From Oct. 10th to 15th, Dr. Sirin Andrey, director of Institute of Forest, Russian Academy of Science, visited ISWC together two other Russian scientists. During the visit Dr. Sirin Andrey delivered a lecture on the academic achievements by the Institute of Forest, RAS, and had a discussion with ISWC researchers on related issues. The two sides made a comparison between Russian’s "Stalin Afforestation Plan" and China’s “Three-North Shelterbelts”, an agreement was reached of further research cooperation. The Russian scientists also visited ISWC’s Shenmu Experiment Station, and investigated into the tree planting and development in Yulin.
The visit was part of the 2009 visiting plan of NSFC-RFBR project “Sino-Russian Joint Research on Developmental Process and Ecological Effects of Artificial Forest in the Semi-Arid Region” , which was supervised by Dr. Jiao Juying at ISWC and Dr. Sizemskaya Marina from the Institute of Forest, RAS.
