Prof. Bofu Yu from Griffith Visited ISWC

At the invitation of the Climate Simulation Laboratory for Dry-land Agriculture and the Historical Exhibition Hall of ISWC, the Dean of the College of Engineering of Griffith University, Australia, Prof. Bofu Yu conducted academic exchange with ISWC.
Dering his visit, Prof Bofu Yu toured the Rainfall Simulation Hall and the erosion course experiment sponsored by the project team under the supervision of Mr Gao Zhanli. Both sides exchanged opinions about flow separation, sediment transportation and efficiency, raindrop separation, sediment composition and grading, slope hydraulics, erosion simulation, GUEST Modeling and so on. Both sides also dicusssed issues concerning cooperation and exchange visit. Prof. Bofu Yu also give an academic reports titled as “Development and validation of a multi-size erosion-deposition model” and “Effects of climate change on rainfall erosivity” for the postgraduates and research fellows of ISWC.
Chief scientist of the “973”project of ISWC, research LI Rui, the dean of International College of Northwest A&F University, Miss Zheng Fenli, the deputy director the State Key Lab of Soil Erosion and Dryland Farming on Loess Plateau. Mr Li Shiqing, and Prof. Tan Wenfeng enlisted as “100 Scientific and Technological Talents Plan” Joined the visiting of Prof. Bofu Yu at ISWC and conducted academic exchanges.
Prof. Bofu Yu, an internationally renowned scientist in soil erosion and hydrology, won his Bachelor’s and Masterr’s degree from Peking University and Tsinghua University respectively. In 1987, he got his Ph.D degree from Johns Hopkins University, U.S, and began his teaching and research work in Australia and U.S. From 1992 on, he has been working at Griffith University, Australia, and now he is the dean of the College of Engineering of the university.
