Training workshop visited Forage Experiment Station

A training workshop of 35 members for “International Seminar on Agricultural Environment Controlling Technologies” and “International Seminar on Soil and Water Preservation and Dryland Farming Technologies”, which was hosted by Ministry Of Commerce , P.R.C and organized by Yangling International Exchange Center of Yangling HDZ, visited XianYang Forage Experiment station of ISWC on May 17th.

The trainees are from Chile, North Korea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Latvia, Lesotho, Uganda, Thailand, Pakistan, Sudan, Nepal and other 14 countries. Under the companionship of Mr. Cheng Jimin, director of Xianyang Forage Experiment Station Forage Station, and Mr. Fang Xiaofei, sub- perfect of Xunyi County, the trainees conducted a field study to the Cow Breeding Base at Xiaozui Village of Chengguan Town. They listened to the report given by Mr. Cheng Jimin titled as “ Government –Farmers-Company ------ the Development Patterns for Animal Husbandry in West Part of China”, learnt more about the intensive management model and construction of supportive facilities for livestock breeding, projects for the demonstration and extension of clover planting, intercropping between fruits and grazing grasses. They also investigated the living and production activities of farm households. The breeding model and the techniques for the disposition of forage at the station greatly aroused their interests. They said the typical experiment at the station would have reference functions for the development of forages and livestock raising in their countries. Both said also conducted further discussion about the development of animal husbandry on Loess Plateau, and brought forward constructive suggestions.

This field study experience helped the trainees to have a better understanding about the achievements of our country in the field of agricultural environment controlling technologies, and could spur them to learn the key technologies in agricultural environment control, promote international cooperation to solve the issues concerning international food security and global environment problems.
