The Experts of Institute of Water and Soil Conservation attend the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2012

On 22nd to 29th of April, European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2012 (EGU2012) was held in Vienna, Austria. Prof. Li Rui, the chairman of WASWAC, Dr. Wang Fei and Dr. Gao Peng of Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, CAS attend this meeting. In this meeting, Prof. Li Rui and Dr. Wang Fei did presentation called “Effect of the Grain for Green Program(GGP) on soil erosion in China” and “Desertification control options with multi-stakeholder workshops in Ansai county, China” respectively. The presentation introduced Progress and experience of GGP practices and their environmental effects in China and commitment to the EU's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) of desertification control and restoration projects (DESIRE). During the meeting, Li Rui and his group interviewed some universities that have long term cooperation with each other. In the meanwhile, having a deep discussion with Prof. Winfried E.H. Blum and Prof. Andreas Klik comes from Vienna natural resources and the application of the life science university (BOKU), remote sensing expert Wolfgang Wagner come from Vienna University of Technology (TU). Li Rui visited Doctor William Critchley, the senior director of the international exchange center of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), and discussed about development of WASWAC. After meeting, Prof. Li Rui and Dr. Gao Peng participated The 8th International Symposium Agro Environ in Wageningen UR. And they discussed about the progress of cooperative research projects with Prof. Ritsema Coen in Wageningen UR.
