  • Prof. Shan is a noted scientist in the research field of dryland farming in China, he presented a series of original ideas for comprehensive control and developing Dryland farming in the Loess Plateau, and developed the physio- ecological field concerning Dryland farming. He demonstrated the existence of compensatory effect under limited water deficit so provides an important foundation for developing the water saving agriculture. Shan also prepared a new drought resistant agent promoting combination of physiological activities with drought resistance and enhance the adaptation to variable and low water environment in semiarid areas. After application of above-mentioned achievements the significant economic and social benefit has been obtained in the some places of north China. 
    Education Background & Academic Experience
  • Shan Lun, crop physiologist,and agronomist, was born in January 19, 1933 in Longkou, Shandong province, China. He graduated from Shandong Agriculture University in 1954, and candidate-Doctor degree of Biological Science was awarded by Institute Plant Physiology, former Academy USSR in 1962. Currently, he is a researcher professor of Institute of Soil and water conservation (ISWC), Chinese Academy of  Sciences (CAS), Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry, and Adviser of Academic council of the Key Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Dryland Farming. He was elected the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1995.
