Two Foreign Guest Specialists in ISWC as Distinguished Research Fellow by

  Two foreign guest experts, Prof. Robert Horton form Iowa State University, USA, and Prof. David Jupp , Senior Principal Research Scientist from Division of Marine and Atmospheric Research, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in ISWC were enlisted in CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES VISITING PROFESSORSHIP FOR SENIOR INTERNATIONAL SCIENTISTS (CAS VISITING PROFESSORSHIP), and have been employed as distinguished research fellows by CAS. The employment certificates with President LU Yongxiang’s signature have been issued.

  Prof. Robert Horton has significant achievements in heat, water, and chemical movement in soil and equipment R&Dand has ever won Soil Science Research Award and Soil Physics Award from Soil Science Society of America. In ISWC, he is mainly engaged in the cooperative study into the coupling simulation of water, heat and solute in soil of sloping farmland. Dr. David Jupp has made excellent achievements in the development and application of remote sensing and geographic information systems, and has been awarded CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement. In ISWC, he is mainly engaged in the cooperative study of the regional changes of environmental factors on soil erosion impact assessment.

  CAS VISITING PROFESSORSHIP is a program set up by CAS to provide funds to attract accomplished researchers with senior academic positions who are either currently or was previously working in renowned foreign universities, research institutes or multi-national corporations to participate in research in CAS. The aim of the program is to strengthen the cooperation and exchange between CAS institutes and international research institutions and universities, enhance the science & technology innovation capacity of CAS institutes by inviting accomplished researchers from overseas.
