Professor Anthony Egrinya ENEJI, from the Department of Soil Sciences, University of Calaber, Nigeria came to ISWC as a senior visitng scholar for 2 months. Dr Anthony Egrinya ENEJI would conduct cooperative study with related research fellows of ISWC in dry-land farming, new approaches for the effective utilization of water resources, phyto-physiology and phyto-ecology under drought conditions.

During his stay here, Prof. Anthony would instructed the related research projects underway and the in-door and field experiments as well, conduct discussion with ISWC experts to develop projects proposals to apply for fund support from domestic and international organizations. He would also conduct academic exchanges and help to refine English research assays. On Jan. 7, Dr Anthony gave a report titled as “Background and Synopsis of Research Activities in Agronomy and Crop Science” under the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Dryland Farming on Loess Plateau. Based on his research practices, he introduced the latest research progresses concerning the intercropping, land degradation and reformation, the recycling of agricultural wastes and the application of silicon in the improvement of crop resistance to UV-β radiation and drought tolerance. The attendants of the lecture also had warm discussion with Dr Anthony on issues of their common interest.

It is learnt that, before Dr Anthony’s arrival at ISWC, he had been working in Totti University of Japan and China Agricultural University. More than 100 of his papers have been included in SCI. In 2008, he founded the Journal of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Ecology. From 2000, he has been working as member of the editorial board for 《Journal of Plant Nutrition》, and the newsletter reviewer for many SCI journals.
