The Joint Scientific Thematic Research Programme (JSTP) funded by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) on Development of strategies to improve hydrological and environmental conditions in the Wei River, China, implemented by AITERRA, Wageningen University and Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, CAS and MWR, has new progress on the capacity building to support young scientist to study abroad. Ms. Cao Jianxia and Yang Xiaomei began their PhD study in Wageningen University funded by JSTP in the beginning of 2011 according to the proposal and cooperation planning. They have registered and will do research in Land Degradation and Development Group (LDD) chaired by Professor Leo Stroosnijder and the research team of Professor Coen Ritsema of Alterra. The project will support more short-term scientific exchanges for young scientists form China and the Netherlands.
