 In the afternoon of Feb 23rd, USDA Under Secretary of Research. Education and Economics, Dr. Catherine Woteki, who came to attend the MOSA-USDA 8th Working Group Meeting at Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Zone, visited ISWC.   

   Under the companionship of the Deputy Direct of ISWC, Mr Zhang Xingchang and the chief of the State Key Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Dryland Farming on Loess Plateau, Mr Li Zhanbin, Dr Catherine Woteki visited the Rainfall Simulation Hall, and leant about the experiment principles of the rainfall simulation hall and the progress of soil and water conservation research on Loess Plateau. 

It is reported that the agricultural sci-tech cooperation between the U.S and China governments is conducted under the framework of “Sino-US Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement". Since 2002, fruitful co-operations have been conducted between US and China in the fields of agricultural bio-technology, natural resource management, dairy production, food security, agricultural products processing, water-saving agro-technology and bio-energy. The cooperation not only advcanced the agricultural development of both countries greatly and benefits peoples of the two nations, it has also played important role in promoting international agro-technology cooperation. The senior Chinese officials presented at the MOSA –USDA 8th Working Group Meeting includes Mr. Zhang laiwu, vice minister and party member of MOSA, Mr. Yao Yinliang, vice governor of Shaanxi province and Director of the Administration Committee of Yangling Demonstration Zone
