5 U.S scientists visited Changwu experiment station and reached cooperation intentions

0n June 1st, 5 U.S scientists from University of New Hampshire and Michigan State University visited Changwu Agro-ecological Experiment Station on the Loess Plateau of ISWC. Vice director Guo Shengli gave a detailed introduction to the guests about the research progress at the station in small watershed management and rain-fed farming, and showed they around the station. He also companioned the guests to visit farmer households.


The visiting scientists, led by world renowned biogeochemistry expert prof. Changsheng Li, expressed strong interest in rain-fed farming research, exchanged ideas with research fellows at the station over issues concerning CN recycle, soil N-fixation and how to combat climate change. Based on the features of Loess Plateau, both sides expressed the cooperation intention in fields of farmland management and accumulation of soil organic carbon and nitrogen at the initial period. Prof. Changsheng Li expressed that he would give model support.


Dr. Runsheng Yin from Michigan State University showed strong interests in the small watershed management at Changwu station, particularly farmers income, agricultural industry restructuring, eco-environment changes and their correlations in the process of small watershed management, and hopes to conduct cooperation with Changwu station in ecological and economic fields.
