Sino-Serbia academic Exchange in ISWC

The academic exchange about the Sino-Serbia Sci-tech Cooperation Project “ Regional Soil and Water Conservation Investigation and Comprehensive Impact Evaluation” , sponsored by ISWC of the  Ministry of Water Resources  and  Chinese Academy of Sciences and College of Forestry, University of Belgrade, Serbia, is to be launched recently. From Mrach 18th to 27th , delegates from Serbia have visited ISWC.

During their visit, project academic exchange has been organized and on-spot-investigation into the management condition of sol and water loss on Loess Plateau has been conducted. Delegates from Serbia also visited the Rainfall Simulation Laboratory, Drought Artificial Simulation Hall and other scientific research facilities and popular science bases.

The academic exchange was presided by associate researcher Wang Fei. Mr. MU Xinmin, the deputy director of ISWC and Prof. Miodrag Zlatic, who is in charge of the project at Serbian side, introduced the organizational structure and research progresses of both parties, respectively. Researcher LI Rui , who is the chief executor at Chinese side of the project, introduced the main task s of the project, execution plan, and the progression of the project. Later, both sides discussed the next step for the carry-out of the project and the students training program. Prof. Miodrag Zlatic and Prof. Dragica Obratov-Petkovic also have made academic reports relating to soil sustainable management, participatory land management, biodiversity and eco-restoration, regional management etc. 

During the on-spot investigation into the soil and water loss and its comprehensive management on Loess Plateau in north part of Shaanxi province and Shanxi province, Researcher LIU Guobin, director of ISWC, and XU Bing Cheng , vice manager of the Ansai Station, companioned the delegation group to inspect the small watershed comprehensive management project at Zhi Fanggou and the mountainous trail ground of Ansai Station, and introduced to them the soil erosion monitoring facilities and its operation. During the visit, the delegation group members discussed the basic disciplines, parameters and influencing factors for conducting soil and water conservation and impact appraisal.

In the middle of September, Chinese experts engaged in the project would visit Serbia to conduct further academic exchange.
