The Rainfall Simulation Laboratory for Soil Erosion Processes
This is the second largest rainfall simulation laboratory in the world. It has an effective rainfall simulation area of 1260 m2, which is divided into four sections for various intensities of simulated rainfall ranged between 25-250 mm hr-1, and equipped with facilities for simulating runoff and soil erosion processes under various geomorphologic patterns and ground-surface covering conditions in the Loess region.

The Climate Simulation Laboratory for Dry-land Agriculture
This Laboratory occupies an area of 2560 m2 and is composed of separate compartments to simulate luxurious, atmospheric and soil moisture conditions for crop growth. It provides an essential facility to study the physiology, ecology and water-use efficiency of crops in arid and semi-arid environments.

The technique systems of soil and water conservation based on the combination of inside simulation and field demonstration has been formed in ISWC, and possesses specific traits after many years practice.
ISWC established public labs opening to the society, including chemical analysis lab, soil mechanics lab, plant physiology and biochemistry lab, nuclide analysis lab, in which the equipment and instrument are self-contained complete and advanced.

ISWC compile and publish three periodicals including Journal of Soil and Water Conservation, Bulletin of Soil and Water Conservation, and Research of Soil and Water Conservation. Furthermore, SWC has build up a data center of resources and environment science on the Loess Plateau and established national basic data bank of soil and water erosion environment.
